PEPC Source Access

Account creation

The first three steps take place in the Trac Admin panel:

  1. Accounts - Users:
    1. create a new user in the form at the top of the page
  2. General - Permissions:
    1. Add Subject to Group: Subject = Username, Group = source_read_only_trunk
  3. Version Control - Subversion Access:
    1. In Subversion Groups, click on source_read_only_trunk
    2. in the form Add Group Member to source_read_only_trunk, Subject = Username, click Add
  4. Add an entry to the table below
  5. Adapt the standard reply in the section below and send it to the user

Standard reply e-mail

Dear <their name>,

thank you for your interest in PEPC.

We have just created an account for PEPC's SVN and trac-wiki pages.
With the European GDPR, please note that we will keep your name, email,
and institution in our records. Name and email address are linked and
currently necessary for the (up-to-date) access to our SVN server.
We won't share this personal information with anyone, there is no
tracking taking place, and there is no mailing list associated with it.
It's a simple trac/svn server. You can always contact us in case you
want your account to be deleted again.
Please let us know if you have further questions on that.

You can now log in at https://trac.version.fz-juelich.de/pepc using

    USER: "<username>"
    PW: "<password>"

Please change your password after initial log in using the "Preferences"
link on the top right of the page.

Using

    svn co https://svn.version.fz-juelich.de/pepc/trunk ./pepc

you can check out the latest source code. Note that there are no
strict versions of PEPC, it's a development code.
SVN user name and password are identical to the data above. Although
somewhat outdated, the root directory of the source tree contains a
README file with some information on how to compile and run the
programme. Additional information is available on the trac wiki.

In case you have questions, encounter any problems or even have a
concrete application in mind that you would like to try out, feel
free to contact us via pepc@fz-juelich.de .

Best Regards,

<your name>

My interest in PEPC-B with Boris push at this point is purely academic and for my own enlightenment. I am writing PIC codes myself and they involve unstructured meshes and I am simply interested at this point to understand how tree codes work and to potentially use this code for some simple test cases like two-stream instability or a Kevin-Helmholtz instability that would allow me to explore for myself the parallel scalability of this code. That is I would like to find out for these simple test cases how my own unstructured PIC code compares with PEPC-B in terms of scalability."
